Witness a Vegas marriage like none other - Vegas Vic & Vickie

They are fabulous, they are famous, they are married - but live separately. No, it isn't anyone in Hollywood - it's Vegas Vic and Vegas Vickie!

That's the tall lean neon guy in the cowboy hat, standing above Glitter Gulch Casino - and his romantic counterpart, the kicking cowgirl, Vegas Vickie. Vegas Vic was once the world's tallest mechanical sign, standing at 42 feet, until he was shot by a patron! Not even a mobster... Legend has it that a guest staying in a hotel across the street was woken up at night by the incessant "Howdy, Podner!" coming from the figure of Vegas Vic on his sign.

And so he shot it! With a bow and arrow that he just happened to have on hand in his hotel room. Vegas Vic has been silent ever since. No more waving and no more greeting people passing by Glitter Gulch. Then, as a further indignity to Vegas Vic, his cowboy hat was trimmed to make room for the incandescent canopy of neon lights that arches over The Fremont Street Experience. Consequently, Vegas Vic lost two inches. Vegas Vickie nonetheless married him - after telling him firmly that no man - even one with a lasso - was going to corral her!

The sparkling sweethearts got married in a ceremony in 1994, during the construction of the Fremont Street Experience. Vegas Vickie was perched underneath the Glitter Gulch sign, where she playfully swung her foot in the air. The colorful couple spent 23 years living in the same place. But then in 2017, Vegas Vickie was removed in order to be restored to her former glory. (And wouldn't that be a desirable experience?!)

Vegas Vickie did not return home to Glitter Gulch; instead she went across the street to the Circa Hotel, where now, in a glamorous lobby, Vegas Vickie basks in admiration, as befits this neon "Queen of Fremont Street". Vegas Vickie relishes residing in a hotel! But it would seem that her husband Vegas Vic prefers the outdoor life...(no doubt from all those years of riding the range).

So Vegas Vic and Vegas Vickie have been living separately for 7 years now.

Las Vegas is famous for impulsive marriages... couples may show up at a wedding chapel, enthusiastic and brightly lit (pre-marital cocktails?) and they may exit, glowing all over (but not like the neon twosome Vic and Vickie!

However, just like Vegas Vic and Vegas Vickie, some of those marriages lead to the couple living apart. Vegas Vic was always popular for photo opportunities -- a tall cowboy with a welcoming smile was a good backdrop for bachelorette party pictures. #bachelorette pics.

But now Vegas Vickie, in keeping with her new sassy attitude, new upscale home, and especially her recently enhanced good looks, is upstaging her husband. She is a woman who has the liberty to attract just as many photo takers, once they get an eyeful of this famous fluorescent female!

Is that a camera in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? Both. The marital saga of Vegas Vic and Vegas Vickie is something to ponder as you are about to tie the knot

(But don't get lassoed into getting married!)
